In the exhibition halls You can explore the Finnish railway history from the time of tzars towards contemporary times with locomotives and carriages. Along the journey there is both special and everyday transportation.
Railways old engine shed and depot houses today different kind of Finnish great steam engines. In the shed you can peak under a engine via old maintenance pit. In the end of the shed there is a play and arts&crafts area for children.
The fist private railway in Finland was the railway from Hyvinkää to Hanko in 1873. The station in museum area is the former Hyvinkää station of this private railway. It has been restored to its late 19th century appearance. There is a exhibition of the railway architecture in Finland.
Museum park has been a railway residential and depot area over a 100 years. Among the houses there are also a bakery cottage, the families, living in the area baked their bread. Behind the museum lobby, near the turn table is to be found a railway infrastructure exhibition.
