The Saloon car

A former passenger coach was utilised by a carriage works in Prague for the construction of Saloon Car A7 that was intended for communal purposes during journey time. The long row of windows filled the saloon compartment with light, and it was wider than the Tsar’s and Tsarina’s Saloons, having no side corridor. Most of the saloon was upholstered in red silk.

The furniture originally included two sofas as well as four large and six smaller arm chairs, all upholstered in red silk. There were three walnut tables, including a square one that opened into a velvet-covered games table.

Combined with the saloon was a smaller private compartment that had walls and sofa upholstered in matching silver grey silk. The small compartment had its own lavatory.
